Welcome to the Historic Midtown Development Group website. Here you will find all the information you need to become aquainted/re-aquainted with the historic part of Sikeston, keep abreast of events/activities and learn of our restoration plans. Downtown is the heart of the community and it is our goal to make it a thriving retail/business district once again.

Downtown development does many things including increase the tax base for the city, increase tourism and visitor dollars, protects and preserves historic buildings for future generations to enjoy.

The Historic Midtown Development Group meets on the 1st Thursday of each month, 8:00 a.m. at Susie's Bake Shoppe. Anyone interested in the commerce and the restoration of downtown Sikeston is welcome to attend. The meetings last approximately one hour.

Robin Pace recieves a $500 grant to the Historic Midtown Development Association which will help complete the mural of Sikeston's history. This grant from the Garwood and Ruth Felker Sharp Community Outreach Fund is presented by the Rev. Geoff Posegate of the First United Methodist Church. Pictured with Robin Pace are Rev. Posegate and Harry Sharp. This outreach fund was created by Mrs. Ruth Felker Sharp to encourage and assist activities in her hometown of over 90 years; recipients of the grants are determined by the First United Methodist Church and the Sharp family. The family is challenging other families and organizations interested in Sikeston's history to fund the completion of this historic mural.

The Sikeston Lions Club recently made a donation for the completion of the downtown mural. Accepting the check is Historic Midtown Development Group president Robin Pace. Pictured from left to right is HMDG representative Harry Sharp, Lions Club members Bryan Montgomery and Larry Tetley, Pace and HMDG representative Anita Sharp.
